Have you ever seen someone’s body change right in front of you? It is like they are being blown up like a balloon but with confidence and passion, they grow slightly taller and wider. I saw this today as my client glowed as they told me stories of their military career, of their passion for motorbikes and other vehicles engineering feats.
Today we headed to a military show, with things to see and do for miles. Now don’t get me wrong, being an veteran these time of activities are right up my street so I was more than happy to take my client. However I found myself listening intently to the stories from my client, hearing them tell me personal experiences with bits of kit or them sharing their knowledge of the kit that we were looking at. Seeing them being confident and passionate was amazing and almost saw me ignore things on display that would normally grab my attention as their passion fully captured my attention.
I often get asked why I do this job, it is long hours and a lot of driving, but this is why. This is why I do my job because I can provide opportunities like this to make a difference to someone’s day. Due to things out of their control they can’t drive and they struggle with getting places and even struggles to be mobile like they used to be but today, today they got to be themselves again. That for me is what makes this job so wonderful and rewarding.
